15 Smart Headhunting Techniques

Hey guys, whats-up ? I am sure you are champions and without a doubt doing great in your career :) but if you are here means you are interested in learning smart ways of headhunting, so here are some tips and techniques which may be helpful to you in your talent search.

1) Researching- The first and foremost work if to do an extensive research about the open position, its roles and responsibilities, its benefits, budget and competition in the market, industry and similar companies in the market where similar profiles can be found. Prepare a proper report a
bout each and every point.

2) Job Description- Unusually Job description is provided by the senior management in however you may research about it though different job portals like naukri, monster, indeed, glassdoor, LinkedIn etc. For example if you are going to hire a VP Govt Sales for an IT Company, you may search for a Job as a candidate in naukri by placing the the title , experience years and cost in the search.  It will give you a fair idea that what other companies are expecting from a similar candidate and how much they are ready to pay.

3) Employer Branding You may need to enhance the visibility of your organization and let people know that your company is expanding and looking forward to hire talent at different levels.

4) LinkedIn- Once you are all set, learn to make optimum utilization of LinkedIn i.e. you may directly search for people , you may ask your connections to refer, you may send an InMail, you may search competition companies and the look for people working in those companies and can connect with them to ask whether they are open to take a new opportunity. You may look for top universities and colleges profile on LinkedIn and see the alumni and there position in a targeted location and connect with them to discuss opportunity.

5) Social Media Search using Internet Marketing techniques-  Facebook, twitter, instagram, slideshare, quora and angellist are mostly used platforms by most of the people irrespective of their position and hierarchy, you may tap them from these platforms. You may send an email by verifying through email verifier. try finding whatsapp groups.

6) Employee Poaching-  Connecting with VP level talent is difficult but you may find their contact by connecting their subordinates and people from other departments or may be other companies who share similar interests and groups.

7) Referrals- Ask for referrals from your own connections and try to connect with those referrals and ask if they are open.

8) Competitors- In some companies there are legal obligations and contracts that a VP level employee can not join a competitor company, but smart VP's know how to deal with it and this is in some cases but mostly there are no such agreements and you may easily get your candidate.

9) Newsletter/ Journals/ Annual Reports/ Seminar- Usually VP's have there presentation in these and can be easily tapped from here.

10) Blogging-  No matter what industry and what profile or domain you may be looking for, usually you will find lots of blogging by the candidates and you may easily connect there as well and say hello in the comment box with an appreciation :P :)

11) Using competitive platforms- When you are hiring a technical profile you may look forward to connect with them through stackoverflow, techgig, github, kaggle or other competitive sites where there are codejams and hackathons are conducted, you may tap facebook hacker cup ot google summer of code winners as well.

12 Connecting classmates from the University- You may like to connect people from same batch from the university and ask them to share contacts or place the job opportunity in the alumni group of that batch of the university.

13) Emailing on the official ID- Nobody wants any kind of communication on the official email but a normal hello and a very brief purpose communication can be done on the easily found official email ID and ask them to reply or call them over cellphone. to find official email ID of the person simply check the domain name and guess and verify using free email verifier or call at the reception and ask for the persons email ID. If you are lucky you may get his cell number also.

14) Referrals from Not Interested Candidates- If you call someone and that person is not interested in job change at that point of time don't forget to ask if he wants to refer someone for the position.

15) Using paid data banks-  Last but not the least you may use tha paid data sources like zoominfo, lead411, Discoverorg and LinkedIn sales navigator etc to access the data and find VP level talent easily.
